When you walk through the doors of the Moshi Kids Centre, the first thing you notice isn’t the building—it is the sound. It’s the sound of children laughing, shoes squeaking on the pavement during a game of football, and teachers gently guiding morning lessons.
But what happens when we take that energy outside our walls and into the broader Moshi community?
In 2026, we are placing a heavier emphasis on community events than ever before. Whether it is a local charity run at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro or an open-house art fair, events are the lifeblood of our mission. Here is why gathering together matters so much, and how your participation directly changes a child’s life.
1. Breaking the Stigma Through Joy
For many vulnerable children, society often places a label on them before they even have a chance to introduce themselves. By hosting public events like our Annual Moshi Kids Sports Day, we flip the narrative.
When the local community gathers to cheer these children on as they race down a track or showcase a traditional dance, the children aren’t seen as “vulnerable”—they are seen as athletes, artists, and leaders. This public validation is a crucial step in building their self-esteem.
2. Where the Funds Actually Go
A major component of our events is fundraising. We believe in absolute transparency with our donors. When you buy a ticket to our Annual Charity Gala or sponsor a runner in our 5K, that money doesn’t disappear into a void. It addresses immediate, tangible needs:
Nutritional Security: According to the World Food Programme, consistent nutrition is vital for cognitive development. Event funds directly supply our kitchen, ensuring every child receives three hot, balanced meals a day.
Educational Materials: Funds are immediately converted into textbooks, school uniforms, and writing supplies for the new school term.
Healthcare Access: We ensure every child has proper medical checkups and access to emergency care.
3. Creating a Global “Village”
You don’t have to live in Tanzania to be part of our community. The beauty of 2026 is our interconnectedness. We have introduced virtual participation for many of our events. Whether you are hosting a satellite bake sale in London or running a virtual 5K in New York, you are part of the Moshi Kids Centre family.
“A child’s world expands the moment they realize there are people across the globe rooting for their success.”
